19th Edition of the Series of Talks:
“Cuba in the Foreign Policy of The United States of America”
Topic: "United States-Cuba: Obstacles and Opportunities for a Sustainable Relationship"
Date: December 15, 16 and 17, 2021
The Center of Research for International Policy (CIPI) with the co-sponsorship of the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI), convenes the 19th edition of the Series of Talks "Cuba in the Foreign Policy of the United States of America", with the theme: "United States-Cuba: obstacles and opportunities for a sustainable relationship"
The conference will be held on 15, 16 and 17 December 2021, at the “Dr. Pelegrín Torras de la Luz" auditorium, of the "Raúl Roa García" Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI), Calzada Nº. 308, corner of H, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana, Cuba.
This series of talks have become an annual space for academic exchange, in which Cuban, American and Latin American researchers, professors and specialists have examined and discussed the main characteristics of the United States' foreign policy towards Cuba and the complex interaction between the two countries.
The XIX edition will take place at a particular time, after a period in which bilateral ties have been significantly eroded, with a marked impact on the Cuban population and the imposition of serious obstacles to the development of a viable relationship.
The experience accumulated by experts and scholars includes an understanding of the challenges of this conflictive relationship and the possible and proven benefits of coexistence. This double quality, the aspiration to advance in the search for a respectful and sustainable relationship, and the contrasting views on the conditions that influence the difficult interaction between the two countries, motivate the invitation to this meeting.
