CALL FOR PAPERS – X Conference on Strategic Studies

The Center for International Policy Research (CIPI), with the co-sponsorship of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), invites scholars to the X Conference on Strategic Studies, to be held from October 1 to 3, 2025, in Havana, Cuba.
Under the central theme «Geopolitical Dynamics in an Era of Multipolarity: Strategies, Opportunities, and Challenges for the South,» the event will bring together scholars, researchers, students, and specialists from Cuba and around the world to discuss the major trends and transformations in the contemporary global landscape from a Southern perspective.
The Conference on Strategic Studies reaches its tenth edition in a challenging international context. As the world moves toward a multipolar structure, geopolitical dynamics reflect the reconfiguration of power centers and the system of international alliances. The X Conference on Strategic Studies provides a space for dialogue and reflection on the following thematic lines:
- Shifting Dynamics in Global Geopolitics: Power centers, reconfiguration of alliances, and spheres of influence.
- The Present and Future of BRICS: Multipolarity and options for the Global South.
- Innovative Proposals for International Development Cooperation: The Belt and Road Initiative—Implications, opportunities, and challenges for Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean.
- The African Continent: Political and economic trends. Opportunities and challenges in the transition to multipolarity.
- The Caribbean in Focus: Regional integration and international cooperation in the Caribbean space.
- International Monetary and Financial Architecture, Debt, and Development Financing: Alternatives from the South—The New Development Bank and prospects for trade de-dollarization.
- Energy Transition, Strategic Resources, and Sustainable Development.
- Technological Competition: Disruptive trends, new actors and leadership, and geopolitical implications.
- NATO-Russia Conflict: Economic and political costs for Europe.
- Political Polarization: Challenges for progressive movements worldwide.
The event will be held IN-PERSON, though virtual presentations will also be accepted. Participation is open in two formats:
- Panel presentations and special interventions.
- Written papers, whose publication on the event’s website will be considered by the Organizing Committee.
Full papers should be 5 to 10 pages in length and must be submitted to cee@cipi.cu by August 1, 2025, including: full name, academic degree, institutional affiliation, country of origin, email, and contact phone number.
An electronic certificate will be issued to panelists, authors of papers and special interventions, and attendees of in-person sessions. A Repository featuring a selection of accepted papers will be published on CIPI’s website.
