Call for Papers: 20th Edition of the Series of Talk «Cuba in the Foreign Policy of the United States of America»
The Center of Research for International Policy (CIPI) with the co-sponsorship of the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI), announces the 20th Edition of the Series of Talks «Cuba in the Foreign Policy of the United States of America», with the topic: “United States-Cuba: Relations in a New Global Scenario”.
The conference will be held in-person on 14, 15 and 16 December 2021, at the Auditorium “Dr. Pelegrín Torras de la Luz», at the Higher Institute of International Relations “Raúl Roa García” (ISRI), address Calzada No. 308 esq. H, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana, Cuba. Some of the programme activities will be broadcasted live, through digital platforms.
These series of talks have become an annual opportunity for academic exchange. In this forum, researchers, professors and specialists from Cuba, the United States, and other countries have examined and discussed the main characteristics of the United States’ foreign policy towards Cuba and its complexities.
The 20th Edition will take place in an international context influenced by several factors. Among them, the effects of the pandemic, geopolitical conflicts whose consequences in the short, medium and long term are part of new debates worldwide stand out. The use of unilateral coercive measures, as the main political tool; and the extreme polarization in electoral processes stand out as well.
The expertise achieved by academic authorities and scholars will enrich the discussion on the challenges of a complex relation, characterized by recurring tensions. It will also emphasize the benefits of a respectful coexistence.
The objective of advancing in the search of a civilized and sustainable relationship, and the different views on the conditions influencing the interaction between the two countries, motivate the call for this meeting.
