CALL FOR PAPERS 21st Edition of the Conversation Series «Cuba in the Foreign Policy of the United States of America»

mayo 9, 2023   0

The Center for International Policy Research (CIPI), with the co-sponsorship of the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI), convenes the XXI Edition of the Conversation Series «Cuba in the Foreign Policy of the United States of America», with the topic: «Historical evolution of the official and unofficial bilateral cooperation between Cuba and the United States. Its effect on both countries and on third parties».

The meeting will be held on December 6, 7 and 8, 2023 at the «Dr. C. Pelegrín Torras de la Luz» Theater of the «Raúl Roa García» Higher Institute of International Relations, located at Calzada No. 308 on the corner to H St, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana, Cuba.

Some of the program’s activities will be broadcast live on digital platforms. This series of conversations has constituted an annual space for academic exchange, in which Cuban, U.S. and international researchers, professors and specialists have examined and debated the main aspects of U.S. foreign policy towards Cuba and its complexities.

The XXI Edition will take place in an international context marked by several factors, including geopolitical conflicts whose short, medium- and long-term consequences are part of the new global debates; the use of unilateral coercive measures as the main political tool; the decline in the leadership of several nations and the reordering of regional alliances.

The experience accumulated by experts and scholars will enrich the debate on the challenges of a complex relationship, marked by recurring tensions, and will emphasize the benefits of a respectful coexistence that has an effect on third parties.

The call for this meeting is motivated by the aspiration to advance in the search for a civilized and sustainable relationship, and the interest in understanding the different views on the conditions that influence the interaction between the two countries.
